A CALL TO ARMS (AND LEGS,...)
Hello again to new and old members alike! This is a BIG REMINDER that all systems are go: From approximately the 5th or 6th March we will have 4 weeks to get our shop (located at 23 Whistler Street, Manly) fitted up, our staffing organised - basically to get everything ready to be open for business at the beginning of April.

Most importantly we will need all the help we can get to help with the renovations and fitting of the shop - whether that is anyone who can help provide materials or just people to come along in the evenings and the weekends to lend a hand - no experience necessary! Remember, the success of your food co-op depends on the work you put in and secondly that your work is rewarded by a discount on future purchases of goods in the shop and last not least your membership is based on a minimum work contribution of two hours per every three months.

Only if you donít get the chance to fill in the questionaire, but have the time to help please ring Keelah Lam on 9948 1311

In addition, our second priority is organising people to work in the shop. Whether or not you've had prior shop front experience, we ask you to think about times when you could possibly work. We'll be drafting up a work schedule, so get in first with your preferences.
On that note, we'll be running 'Food Co-Op' training to educate people about co-ops and how they're run in conjunction with Alfalfa House in Newtown. The first is on the 9th March, so contact Keelah if you are interested - NOW is the time to learn more about your Co-op.

BUSHDANCE

We held our first social event, our bush dance, on Saturday 8th of February. It was a great success (we raised $500) and was enjoyed by adults and kids alike. Thanks to the bush band Off The Wall Bushdances (Gary and Carol Crees) who provided such wonderful music and showed those of us with two left feet how to do the jig. Keep an eye out for more events to come.

Through our meetings and promotional activities to date, we have found that there is broad support for a shop to provide healthy, environmentally friendly, locally grown food for the local community. In providing Manly with the supply of healthy food alternatives we also assist in the education of practical and responsible food consumption. At a time Manly Council is concerned that it may not be able to continue it's re-cycling program because of costs, please remember we aim to provide organically grown food and natural products without producing waste. That means when you come and shop with us you need to bring your own containers. We aim to clean up Australia every day.

Take care and see y'all real soon now.
